AITEC - Agricultural Innovation & Technology Center

AITEC

Almost 800 million people lack access to safe, clean drinking water. Over 800 million people around the world are undernourished. These are key statistics that led to the development of Water 4 Mercy's Agricultural, Innovation & Technology Centers (AITEC) an innovative solution to break the vicious cycle of thirst, hunger and poverty in Africa and replace it with economic empowerment and Cycles of Success.

AITEC is a Multi-faceted program that teaches innovative solutions for knowledge development, nutrition sensitivity, climate resilience, income generation, teacher training, and youth empowerment. Designed to transfer knowledge, AITEC's 'Best Business Practices' incorporates the collaborative solar, water and agricultural expertise of Israeli NGO's Innovation:Africa and CultivAid.

Complementing Don Bosco Tech of Africa's hands-on curriculum, students, alongside local farmers, extension workers and agents learn best-practices in Horticulture and Animal Husbandry from skilled agronomists, thereby improving their undernourished communities' health.  AITEC's "Center of Excellence" located at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Dodoma, Tanzania supports teacher training, youth development, job creation, economic empowerment and Agri-business.

AITEC is scalable for implementation within the Don Bosco network of Technical Institutes (TVETs) located in 36 countries throughout Africa.

AITEC's multifaceted offering include Executive and Student Exchange Programs, Extension Services and Water 4 Mercy's Training, Development and Research sites for technology and knowledge transfer to support community development and improve the livelihood of impoverished village
